ALBANY, NY (06/04/2012)(readMedia)-- The board of trustees of The Children's Museum of Science and Technology has named Deborah Onslow as the museum's interim Chief Executive Officer, beginning today.
"We are very pleased that Debby has agreed to step into the role of interim CEO," comments board chair Paul Fahey. "Ms. Onslow, a recognized leader in the non-profit community, is the ideal candidate to lead our museum as we work toward building a stronger, sustainable business model built on collaboration and relationships with our community. Ms. Onslow has continually demonstrated her ability to inspire and engage membership, supporters, and staff during her tenure at The Arts Center of the Capital Region and WMHT. The Board is confident that she is the best person to move the institution forward while helping identify a permanent leader."
Ms Onslow was most recently the interim CEO of The Arts Center of the Capital Region where she nurtured new partnerships, donor relationships and led the search for the permanent CEO, named earlier this year. Previously, she was the President and General Manager of WMHT Public Telecommunications, a position she held for nearly seven years.
"I am truly honored to assume the role of interim CEO and thank the board of trustees and the community for their incredible support over the years," said Onslow. "I am excited to build on the board's momentum and look forward to strategizing with our regional peers."
Ms. Onslow will be stepping into this position at a time of great opportunity. The Children's Museum of Science and Technology recently saw a 15% increase in attendance last year, up to more than 75,000 visitors. Additionally, the regional growth in advanced manufacturing, technology and STEM education programs have given rise to new programming and relationships within the corporate community.
Ms. Onslow added that the board and staff have "a very collaboartive and entrepreneurial vision for the museum. Together, we will continue to inspire the children of the Capital Region for years to come."
