ATLANTA, GA (03/05/2012)(readMedia)-- While most students were spending time with family and friends last winter break, Spelman College freshman Christine Slaughter was among 16 Spelman students who explored Costa Rica as part of the College's Student Affairs Global Experience (SAGE) program from Dec. 10-18, 2011. In Costa Rica, Slaughter and her classmates gained an insider's perspective on the life and experiences of the country, including exploration of Tortuguero via Braulio Carrillo National Park, named for Costa Rica's third president. The students also explored the Sarapiqui region, which features varied ecological systems.
The SAGE program provides substantive opportunities for students to learn about diverse cultures of the world. It also provides global experiences that enable students to function in a multicultural environment.
Slaughter is a graduate of Appomattox Regional Governor's School in Petersburg. She is a political science major at Spelman and has been named to the Dean's List.
