Spelman College Senior Spends Summer Researching Parkinson's Disease
ATLANTA, GA (07/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Dominique Grasty, C'2013, has been spending her summer participating in the Biomedical Research Apprenticeship Program at Washington University in St. Louis. Known as BioMedRAP, this intensive, 10-week summer program will allow Grasty to gain valuable laboratory experience as she prepares for the biomedical field.
The Philadelphia, Pa. native will conduct research in a neuroscience laboratory, focusing on the analysis of data collected from patients with Parkinson's Disease. The program will culminate with Grasty's poster presentation where she explains her research in greater detail. In addition to the research component, the biology major will bond with scholars from other institutions and attend seminars and discussions about the graduate and professional school application process. She also plans to take a Princeton Review course to prepare for the MCAT, and hopes to shadow pediatric physicians, her primary area of interest.
