SCHAGHTICOKE, NY (10/07/2011)(readMedia)-- Liberty Ridge Farm, the Capital Region's premier fall family destination invites families and junior athletes to the 2011 Family Farm Olympics. This yearly event is held during the Fall Festival Oct 8th, 9th & 10th of Columbus Day Weekend. Families and friends of all ages are invited to an amazing weekend of old fashioned games and competitions.

A farm style kick-off will starts at noon of each day for participants young and old. Everyone is invited to compete in games including Potato Sack Races, 3-Legged Relays, Egg on a Spoon race, and the new Hop Along Rodeo that has little ones bouncing on inflatable ponies in a race for the medal around bales of hay. Each event ends with all competitors receiving a medal in an official Farm-tastic Awards Ceremony, photography and cheering is encouraged while the competitors stand on the Liberty Ridge Farm Olympic Awards Podium.

General Admission to Liberty Ridge Farm is $10 per person, with children 2 and under admitted free. Admission includes; The NASA Hubble Corn Maze, Brad's Barnyard Adventure and Trolley Rides and Shows. Throughout the weekend the Family Farm Olympics festivities include festival foods like Apple Cider Donuts, Apple Cider Slushies, Fresh Fudge, Caramel Apples and a wide variety of grilled foods and specialty sandwiches. Festival entertianment includes face painting by Magic Brushes along with tricks, jokes and balloon artistry by Farmer Bruce.

Colleen the Sideshow Queen and EvilDan are "Pyschic Sideshow", a live experience that brings you the thrill and excitement of a carnival midway each Haunt night starting at 7pm.

On Saturday October 9th Pony Rides will be available for a charge as part of a fundraiser held by the Battenkill Pony Club.

The Rensselaer County Fire Chiefs Association will be displaying their new Fire Safety House by Scotty. Children will will be educated on important topics such as; Stop, Drop and Roll, Calling 911, Planning an escape, Developing a meeting place, Identifying hazards in the house, and Smoke detector usage and proper location.

Liberty Ridge Farm is an agricultural tourism destination and working farm on the historic Hoosic River. In the 12th Season Liberty Ridge Farm has been named the northeast representative for the NASA SpaceFarm7 special outreach program. The SpaceFarm7 pairs NASA and seven other agri-tourism destinations across the United States in a special outreach program aimed at educating children on space exploration. Liberty Ridge Farm and Goddard Space Flight Center will be paired together to coordinate their leg of the outreach program and celebration. Liberty Ridge Farm has entertained families for 12 Seasons, coming up with new and exciting corn maze designs that delight hearts and minds. The 2011 Corn maze will highlight achievements made during the 20 year NASA Hubble Space Telescope program, proudly bearing the name of "The Hubble Space Telescope Adventure Corn Maze." The Fall Festival begins September 17th and runs to November 6th.
