Common Cause/NY Calls on Cuomo to Call Special Election ASAP

NEW YORK, NY (01/02/2018) (readMedia)-- On January 1st, two State Senate seats officially became vacant in SD37 and SD18. The Governor can now legally call a special election to be held in 70-90 days.

Common Cause/NY Executive Director, Susan Lerner, issued the following statement:

"The top of Governor Cuomo's New Year's resolution list should be to guarantee representation for all New Yorkers asap. On January 1st, two State Senate seats became vacant leaving thousands of New Yorkers without a voice in Albany during the critical budget season. The Governor has a responsibility to his constituents to call a special election immediately for the earliest possible date which would be mid-march. There's no excuse to delay."
