Common Cause/NY Responds to Suffolk County Repealing Campaign Finance Program

NEW YORK, NY (07/27/2022) (readMedia)-- Yesterday, Suffolk County lawmakers overrode County Executive Steve Bellone's veto of Republican-sponsored legislation to end the County's public financing program. In response, Sarah Goff, Deputy Director at Common Cause/NY put out the following statement:

"Repealing Suffolk's campaign finance law is not only a huge step backwards, but sends a clear message that special interests are more important than voters in county elections. This is a real loss for voters who deserve better. But this is not the end - we will continue to fight for public financing of elections in Suffolk county and beyond."
