Concert Venue Change: Ken Medema Will Now Perform at College Hill United Methodist Church

BEAVER FALLS, PA (10/10/2011)(readMedia)-- The venue for musician and composer Ken Medema to perform for Geneva College on Wednesday, October 12 at 7 p.m. has been moved. Due to water damage and subsequent repairs in Geneva's John White Chapel, Medema will perform at the College Hill United Methodist Church located on the corner of 5th Avenue and 33rd Street in Beaver Falls, PA, just blocks from the Geneva College campus. The performance is free and open to the public.

Medema will also be the featured speaker during Chapel-Geneva's weekly devotional time-at 10:15 a.m. on October 12 in Metheny Fieldhouse. At Chapel, he will lead the singing and teach a new psalm setting composed with select Geneva music majors for the occasion. This, too, will be free and open to the public.

Although blind from birth, Medema started playing the piano at the age of five. It quickly became a passion leading him through school and eventually to performing. Medema mixes his musical talents with a bit of comedy to drive home his messages and songs. During performances, Medema tests what he calls his "musical reflexes" by calling for three notes from the audience and then turning those three notes into an improvised song.

Medema performs over 200 concerts a year at venues such as universities, elementary schools, high schools, corporate conferences and conventions, and numerous church organizations. Medema has also been featured on televised shows such as the Hour of Power and 30 Good Minutes.

After his appearances at Geneva, Medema will visit Memorial Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Allison Park. "Open Mouths Open Hearts," a workshop on ways to encourage, inspire, and lead worship will be held on Saturday, October 15. Medema will also be featured at Memorial Park on Sunday, October 16 at 4 p.m.
