WASHINGTON, DC (02/10/2017) (readMedia)-- Brig. Gen. Renwick L. Payne, D.C. National Guard, Adjutant General, is retiring from the U.S. Army after 42 years of service.
His retirement ceremony will be at the D.C. National Guard Armory, Feb. 11 at 2:00 p.m.
Payne held the position of The Adjutant General of the District of Columbia National Guard from July 1, 2012 to Jan. 20, 2017.
Payne enlisted in 1974 and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant of Field Artillery in 1979. He was assigned to the National Guard Bureau in October 1993 as the Transportation Organization Integrator, Force Management Division. He served as the Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Manpower & Reserve Affairs, Pentagon; Executive Officer to the Director, Army National Guard, National Guard Bureau; G3/Operations Officer, Army National Guard, National Guard Bureau; Chief of Staff, Army National Guard; and the Global War on Terrorism Operational Assistant to the Director, Army National Guard. He also served as Director, Joint Staff, New York National Guard.
Payne holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Governors State University, Illinois. He is affiliated with the National Guard Association of the United States, the Militia Association of New York, the Association of the United States Army and the 369th Historical Society.
