WASHINGTON, DC (11/15/2010)(readMedia)-- Hundreds of D.C. National Guard men and women and their family members will receive Thanksgiving dinners for the holiday during an Operation Homefront event sponsored by Harris-Teeter and MillerCoors on Monday, Nov. 22. The holiday meals will be distributed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Representatives from Operation Homefront and Harris Teeter's Jenkins Row store in Washington will be on hand to receive thanks from Maj. Gen. Errol R. Schwartz, commanding general of the D.C. National Guard, and leaders of the D.C. Guard's Family Readiness Group.
"This is a difficult time for a lot of our people," Schwartz said. "In addition to trying economic times, some folks will be without their loved ones who are serving in Afghanistan and Iraq over the holidays. We are grateful that people in our community care about our soldiers, airmen and their families and are willing to show their gratitude and support."
Operation Homefront provides emergency financial and other assistance to families of service members and wounded soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines. The nonprofit organization is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, and has 23 chapters that provide services to military families across the nation.
