Darius Favors Named Brockport Athlete of the Week
BROCKPORT, NY (04/24/2013)(readMedia)-- Sophomore Darius Favors (West Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland) of the men's track and field team has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week after taking home two first place finishes at the Cortland Classic over the weekend.
Favors strongest performance of the day came in the discus event as the sophomore finished first with an ECAC qualifying mark of 46.65 meters (153' 1"), more than four full meters further than the second place finisher. Favors also took first place in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 48.75 meters (159' 11").
Favors also posted a third place finish in the men's shot put with a mark of 13.75 meters (45' 1 ½"), finishing behind fellow teammate Brendon Ganschow (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West). Favors came in seventh place in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.50 (155' 10").
The Golden Eagles will head to the St. John Fisher Meet on April 27, their final regular season competition before the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships May 3-4, hosted by Cortland.
