Dayna Piraino Earns Weekly National Recognition
BROCKPORT, NY (04/19/2011)(readMedia)-- The College at Brockport's women's lacrosse team has outscored the opposition 63-27 in winning four straight, and junior Dayna Piraino's (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) steady play has been a big why the Green and Gold (7-3 overall, 4-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference) have been so successful.
Piraino has been on a tear of late, scoring seven goals and handing out 10 assists as the Golden Eagles have defeated SUNYAC rivals New Paltz, Geneseo and Oswego as well as non-conference foe RIT. After scoring five goals with eight assists during the week ending April 17, 2011, Piraino's play earned her a spot on the Synapse Sports (formerly known as womenslacrosse.com) Weekly Division III Honor Roll.
The junior attack scored one goal and added three assists as the Golden Eagles knocked off No. 20 Geneseo 12-9 last Tuesday afternoon. She added two goals and three assists during a 15-4 romp over RIT and followed up with two goals and two assists during a 17-3 home win over Oswego.
For the year, Piraino is second on Brockport in points (27) and assists (16) and her 11 goals are sixth-most on the team.
