DiLorenzo Named SUNYAC Player of the Week
The sophomore earned SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Week
BROCKPORT, NY (09/24/2013)(readMedia)-- After scoring four goals in two games and helping the Golden Eagles remain undefeated, sophomore Peter DiLorenzo (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) of The College at Brockport men's soccer team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Offensive Player of the Week.
DiLorenzo has been an important peg in the Golden Eagle offense this season. Against Daemen College, DiLorenzo headed in three second-half goals to lead Brockport to a 3-0 victory. With the score still 0-0 midway through the second half, DiLorenzo was finally able to get the Golden Eagles on the board, outjumping the defense and heading a ball into the corner of the goal. Two minutes later, DiLorenzo connected with the ball on a diving header to push the Golden Eagle lead to two. DiLorenzo completed his hat trick with another header in the final minutes of the game.
Brockport faced a scrappy Medaille team in a rainy game that ended in a 2-2 tie. DiLorenzo scored the first goal of the game with time running out in the first half, but Brockport would not be able to hold on for the win.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday at 4:00 pm for the first SUNYAC game of the season against Fredonia at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
