CLEARWATER, FL (04/16/2013)(readMedia)-- Orlando Christian Prep graduate Ashleigh Diaz signed a letter of intent to attend Clearwater Christian College and to play basketball for the Lady Cougars at a ceremony held on campus in Clearwater, FL, on Friday, April 12. While at OCP, Diaz was an integral part of the school's district championship team in 2011. In addition to pursuing classes at Valencia Community College, Diaz has served as assistant coach under Head Coach Chris Cenicola. Ashleigh is the daughter of Juan and Jeanette Diaz and she plans to study Pre-Physical Therapy at Clearwater Christian College.
In his comments about Ashleigh, CCC Coach Anthony Wilson said, "Ashleigh brings an immediate impact of strength and speed to our point guard spot. She will have an immediate impact on our success on the floor. I am also excited about Ashleigh's commitment to Christ. She is actively involved in her church as a junior high Sunday school teacher, and I am excited to see her bring that heart for ministry to our program."
Clearwater Christian College is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and participates in Division II competition. Located on a 138-acre property on Tampa Bay, it is home to over 500 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a distinct Christian education in a traditional liberal arts environment.
