District of Columbia National Guard to host 9/11 memorial service

WASHINGTON, DC (09/01/2017) (readMedia)-- The District of Columbia National Guard will host a 9/11 memorial service on Sept. 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the D.C. National Guard Armory.

The theme of the service is, "To Remember, Reflect, and Renew," and will honor the memory of nearly 3,000 American victims and the first responders who risked their lives to save others. The service will also honor the members of the D.C. National Guard who lost their lives in the ensuring war, as well as the thousands who survived and all who demonstrated extraordinary acts of bravery, courage, and compassion in the face of terror.

The purpose of the service is to honor the lives remembered, the families recognized, and the American spirit reawakened to reaffirm our American legacy for life. Additionally, the purpose serves to strengthen our resolve to protect our precious freedom and liberty, and to inspire an end to suffering, hatred, ignorance and intolerance everywhere.
