ALBANY, NY (08/08/2007)(readMedia)-- The New York Capital Region chapter of the American Marketing Association today announced it will honor E. Kristen Frederick, President and CEO of The Community Foundation for the Capital Region as the 2007 Marketer of Excellence. Ms. Fredrick will receive the award during the Thirteenth Annual Mark of Excellence Awards event on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at the Albany Marriott on Wolf Road.

In her current role, Kristen is responsible for the leadership and management of a nonprofit foundation that gathers funds from philanthropically-inclined donors, grows them prudently and then grants them out to nonprofit groups in the ten-county surrounding region. Frederick has served as president and chief executive officer of The Community Foundation for the Capital Region since 2004, following retirement from her position as Eastern Regional Vice President of Marketing for Service Corporation International and a twenty five year career in the family-owned business, Frederick Funeral Home, Inc.

“Kristen joins a prestigious list of professionals who are held in high esteem for their marketing excellence," said Courtney Remington, president of the American Marketing Association. “Kristen has demonstrated consistent excellence in marketing execution and her innovative ideas are an inspiration to women and marketing professionals across the region.”

Frederick's efforts at the Community Foundation have led to the development of a variety of programs and initiatives, including the Women's Fund of the Capital Region – created collaboratively with the United Way of the Greater Capital Region to generate a million dollar fund to support programs to eliminate the root causes that keep women from attaining economic self-sufficiency while providing positive growth opportunities for girls - and the Legacy Partnership Program an endowment building program which helps regional nonprofits create a dependable source of income for their own future.

“What a phenomenal honor this is,” said Frederick, “to be recognized for a career that has spanned everything in marketing from children’s diapers to funeral pre-arrangements. The best part, however, has been helping people plan a sound future for the Capital Region’s arts and service organizations. It takes a lot of marketing effort just letting people know that it doesn’t take a wheelbarrow of charitable dollars to do an immense amount of good!”

In addition to recognizing E. Kristen Fredrick’s outstanding contributions in marketing for the region, this year’s Mark of Excellence Awards will recognize highly effective marketing campaigns and initiatives from all-sized companies, agencies, organizations and educational institutions within the Capital Region.

Past recipients of the Marketer of Excellence Award include: WAMC President & CEO Dr. Alan Chartock, former Times Union Marketing Director Robert Provost, Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, Lyn Taylor, president of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and Kelly Lovell, president /CEO of the Center for Economic Growth.
