Elizabeth Levy Named Brockport Female Athlete of the Year
BROCKPORT, NY (05/21/2012)(readMedia)-- Junior Elizabeth Levy (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Year after being crowned a national champion in the All-Around event for the 2012 NCGA National Champion women's gymnastics team.
Levy is the fifth gymnast in the last six seasons, and fourth straight to be named Brockport Female Athlete of the Year.
The junior won the NCGA individual National Championship in the All-Around with a score of 37.650 to earn All-American honors. Levy was also named All-American on the balance beam and uneven bars as Brockport was declared National Champions.
Levy finished second at the ECAC Championships in the All-Around with a score of 37.750 and helped set the Brockport school record for highest team score by posting a career-best 38.475 in the All-Around which was the fifth best score in school history. She also scored a career-high 9.75 on the floor exercise and a 9.725 on the beam, the third highest score in school history. Levy was named ECAC Athlete of the Week after helping Brockport upset the No. 1 nationally ranked Cortland Red Dragons on March 25.
The Athlete and Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were determined after compiling votes from each of Brockport's varsity coaches, as well as the Athletic Communications staff and select athletic administrators.
