ALBANY, NY (05/23/2008)(readMedia)-- The Environmental Business Association of NYS (EBA/NYS) (www.eba-nys.org) announced this conference aimed at addressing the many issues and concerns surrounding the development of biofuels in New York State.
First in a series of assessment programs addressing the issues related to biofuels and energy sustainability. This pivotal conference will lay the groundwork for the topics of subsequent EBA-NYS forums and programs. Conference final reports will be key elements in establishing the road map to sustainability in New York State.
The conference will involve presentations toward the understanding of the full story behind the food versus fuel issue and about non-food feedstock alternatives. There will be exploration of the potential of biomass as a biofuel and the true impacts of petroleum from foreign sources. Held at the historic Hall of Springs in Saratoga State Park program will include a screening of the winner of the Sundance Film Festival's Audience award, Fields of Fuel.
Rick Zimmerman, Chairman of the EBA’s Biofuels Industry Committee remarked, “This gathering of renewable fuels stakeholders can be a critical opportunity for developing a more coordinated, comprehensive approach to addressing the demand for renewable fuels within the Northeast. Each stakeholder, including farmers, must understand the challenges throughout the production and distribution chain and work together collaboratively to maximize the opportunities available from this growing industry.”
