Erin Luke Named Brockport Athlete of the Week
The sophomore broke six school records at the SUNYAC Championships.
BROCKPORT, NY (02/14/2012)(readMedia)-- Sophomore Erin Luke (Latham, NY/Shaker) of the women's swimming and diving team has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week following her performance at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Swimming and Diving Championships.
Luke was a part of six school records at the four-day event. Luke opened up the championships on Thursday with a record in the 50-yard freestyle in the first leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay. Luke, already the Brockport record holder in the 50-yard freestyle, set a new standard with a time of 24.91. Luke now owns the top three spots in the event as she finished with a time of 25.01 in the individual 50-yard freestyle as well. Overall in the 200-yard freestyle, Luke and three teammates set a school record with a time of 1:40.85 for a third place finish. Luke was also part of a school record in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:10.20, beating the old record by almost six second.
On Friday, Luke was a part of a foursome that broke the school record in the 200-meter medley relay to finish seventh with a time of 1:53.96. The sophomore set an individual school record in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 55.57 seconds. Luke also teamed up to set the school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay and finish fifth with a time of 3:42.43, a 4.55 second drop from the previous record.
