Eschen Named Athlete of the Week

BROCKPORT, NY (09/09/2013)(readMedia)-- Junior Abby Eschen has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on September 8. Eschen scored four goals in two games to help the Golden Eagles win the championship game of the Zenaty Invitational hosted by Springfield College.

In a close matchup against Springfield on Saturday, Eschen scored the tying goal with less than eight minutes to play. Eschen's goal forced overtime that led to a 3-2 Brockport victory.

Eschen shined during Sunday's championship game against Husson. She recorded her first career hat trick in the 5-0 victory. Eschen got the Golden Eagles on the board just 3:50 into the game. 10 minutes later, she scored her second goal with a redirect off of a rebound and into the back of the net. Her third goal early in the second half and would cap the Golden Eagles scoring. She was named to the all-tournament team.

Eschen currently leads the Brockport offense with 10 points off of five goals, including one game-winner.

The Golden Eagles return to action at 4:00 pm on Wednesday as they travel to take on Nazareth.
