Explorer Extravaganza Friday

Students portray explorers and their work

TROY, NY (01/30/2013)(readMedia)-- Students from the 3rd and 4th grade class at the Susan Odell Taylor School have chosen their favorite explorer and are hosting a showcase to display their work. On February 1st, the school is hosting an Explorer Extravaganza Friday. Explorers including; Ponce de Leon, Francisco Pizzaro, Marco Polo, Prince Henry the Navigator, Vasco da Gama, Vasco de Balboa, Jacques Cartier, Henry Hudson, Leif Ericson, Giovanni da Verrazano, Francisco de Coronado, John Cabot and a few others will be represented.

Teacher, Lara Hotaling noted the students will be dressing as their favorite explorer and showcasing their projects via presentations and re-enactments. Projects include; biographies, a map showing explorers routes, a portrait, a colored flag of the country for which the explorer sailed, and a 5-day ship's log (a diary from the explorers point of view, what life was like on the ship and when they landed).
