Friends of the Schenectady County Public Library Hold Semi-Annual Book Sale

Over 40,000 titles available

SCHENECTADY, NY (10/02/2013)(readMedia)-- Over 40,000 titles, from text books to travel volumes, mysteries and children's books will be on sale for $1.00 each, when the Friends of the Schenectady County Public Library holds its annual Fall Used Book Sale on Saturday, October 5, 2013.

The huge sale runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., both in and outside the library at 99 Clinton Street. Left over books will be sold at $2.00 a bag on Sunday, October 6, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the same location. A dealer's tent is also available.

The Friends of SCPL also operate the Whitney Book Corner, 600 Union Street, which sells quality used books for reasonable prices. Most hardcover books are $2 and paperbacks are $1. Store hours on Oct. 5 will be from 9 – 4 and on Oct. 6 from 1:30 – 3:30.

WHO: Friends of Schenectady County Public Library

WHAT: The annual sale includes over 40,000 used adult and children's fiction and non-fiction hard cover books, paperbacks, records, CDs, books on cassettes and large print books. Most hard cover books are $1.00 and 50 cents for regular paperbacks.

Records and better books are individually priced. Titles include history, cookbooks, travel, business, science, biography, self help and all types of fiction books including the classics.

Over 100 volunteers are involved in the book sale and proceeds of the book sale will benefit the nine branches of the county library system.

NOTES: Members of the media are welcome to cover the setup of the event on Friday, Oct. 4th from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday prior to 9:00 am. There will be opportunities to interview members of the Friends and volunteers. Visual opportunities include setting up thousands of books as well as volunteers interacting with the public.

Best visual/photo opportunity is hundreds of buyers rushing to enter the sale at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
