ALBANY, NY (04/03/2013)(readMedia)-- The Capital District Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO is supporting the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAMAW #2109) in fighting back against the impacts facing capital district's working families as a result of the senseless sequester cuts.

In addition to rank and file Union Members from NFFE-IAMAW #2109 and other area Unions, participants will be joined by local leaders in the Labor movement, as well as elected officials representing the area including Congressman Paul Tonko (NY-20) Senator Neil Breslin (SD-46) and Assemblyman John McDonald (AD-108).

Over 600 working class men & women are represented by NFFE-IAMAW #2109 and, due to the ineptitude of leaders in Congress, are now facing a 14-day unpaid furlough.

Local Union President Tim Ostrowski noted, "Congress says they are focused on jobs & the economy. I don't see how that can be the case when the only decisions coming out of Washington right now seem to be hurting middle class households."

President Ostrowki went on to add, "We represent hard-working people who are paid for by the goods that we manufacture, not by taxpayers. This unpaid furlough that will effect hundreds of working families and won't be closing any of the deficits caused by the mismanagement in Washington."
