Georgetown Resident Elected to the American Lung Association of the Midland States Board of Directors

LOUISVILLE, KY (10/13/2015)(readMedia)-- Joni Fowler, PharmD, of Georgetown, KY has been elected to the American Lung Association of the Midland States Board of Directors. Fowler, who has struggled with lifelong asthma, is a licensed Pharmacist, faculty member at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, and the Owner and President of Creative Educational Concepts, Inc. which provides continuing education to medical professionals.

Fowler will be lending her expertise on the Mission, Advocacy, and Finance initiatives of the American Lung Association of the Midland States, which provides programs and services to the residents of Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

"I have been substantially impacted in my life by tobacco. Having been raised in a smoking environment, I have persistent asthma and have lost family members and patients (veterans) to COPD, lung cancer, and heart disease" says Fowler. Her involvement with the American Lung Association began in 1994 and helped to lay the groundwork leading to Kentucky's first Smoke Free Ordinance.

Fowler received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Tennessee Technological University and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee. She has over ten years of experience in direct patient care in the Veterans Affairs system in Memphis is Lexington, where she provided education to practitioners in the geriatric and psychiatric populations.

In addition to Fowler's involvement with the American Lung Association, she is on the Board for the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky and the CPNP Foundation, as well as a founding member of the UK Women & Philanthropy.
