Gildemeyer Named SUNYAC Player of the Week
Katie Gildemeyer earned Offensive Player of the Week for SUNYAC women's soccer
BROCKPORT, NY (09/30/2013)(readMedia)-- After pacing the Golden Eagles offense this week and helping Brockport finish 1-0-1 against some tough SUNYAC competition, Katie Gildemeyer of The College at Brockport women's soccer team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Offensive Player of the Week.
Last Friday, the Golden Eagles played their first SUNYAC game of the season. On the road against Fredonia, Brockport finished with a 1-1 tie. Gildemeyer chipped the ball over the goalkeepers head from outside the box late in the second half to help keep the Golden Eagles from recording a loss.
On the road again the following day, the Golden Eagles took on Buffalo State. After a scoreless first half, filled with some big saves, Gildemeyer was able to score the game-winner early in the second half. Her fifth goal of the season came after a scramble in front of the net.
Gildemeyer is tied for first on the team in scoring with 11 point and has a team-high five goals. She has also tallied two game-winning goals so far this season.
The Golden Eagles return to action at 4:00 pm on Friday at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field for a SUNYAC matchup against New Paltz.
