ALBANY, NY (04/20/2015)(readMedia)-- Girl Scout of Northeastern New York presents Raising Ms. President, a 60 minute documentary about raising the next generation of female political leaders.
WHO: | The panel discussion following the film will feature Mayor Sheehan, Albany’s first female mayor in the city’s history, Alexia Holden a HS senior interested in government, Professor Kate Graney of Skidmore College, Professor Minita Sanghvi of Skidmore , and Mary Alice Molgard of Saint Rose. Christina Arangio of NEWS10 will serve as moderator to the discussion. |
WHAT: | Raising Ms. President explores why women are so unrepresented in US government, and how can encourage girls to consider a career in public office. |
WHEN: | Wednesday April 22, 2015 at 06:30PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) |
WHERE: | Spectrum 8 Theatre 290 Delaware Ave Albany, New York 12209 |
NOTES: | Despite making significant strides in achieving gender equality in this country, women still hold less than 20 percent of Congressional seats. Compared to other nations, the United States is both low and losing ground in women’s political representation. Raising Ms. President encourages girls to consider a career in public service, as having more women at the decision making table means better decisions will be made for us all.
