Grocery Workers Union and Gristedes Supermarkets Agree to 90 Day Extension of Union Contract

Talks with Major Supermarket Chains to Continue

QUEENS VILLAGE, NY (06/03/2010)(readMedia)-- United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500 and representatives of Gristedes Supermarkets have agreed upon a 90 day extension of their existing collective bargaining agreement. Negotiations with the Stop and Shop, Pathmark/A&P and King Kullen will continue as scheduled.

United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500 is based out of Queens Village, NY and represents 23,000 grocery workers in the Metropolitan New York area. Contracts with additional employers such as Key Food and Shop Rite, covering an additional 5,000 workers, will expire in September, 2010.
