Haines Named Athlete of the Week
Cortland Haines was named Brockport Male Athlete of the Week as well as NJAC Rookie of the Week
BROCKPORT, NY (11/10/2013)(readMedia)-- Freshman Cortland Haines () has been chosen at The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week or the week ending on November 10.
Haines recorded nine tackles and four sacks helping lead The College at Brockport Football team to its first-ever New
Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) shutout in a 24-0 victory over Montclair State Saturday in the final regular season home game for the Golden Eagles on Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium in Brockport.
Late in the third quarter Haines sacked the Montclair State (3-6, 2-4) quarterback forcing a fumble and defensive tackle Tarik Bennett (Mt. Vernon, NY/Mt. St. Michael) picked up the loose ball and scampered 25 yards into the end zone for a 17-0 lead.
Of his nine tackles, seven were solo and 6 1/2 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Haines was also named NJAC Rookie of the Week for his performance.
Brockport returns to action for the final game of the regular season on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Morrisville.
