Hometown Heroes Salute honors more than 860 DC Airmen on anniversary of 9/11

D.C. Councilman Phil Mendelson will be keynote speaker for Saturday's event

WASHINGTON, DC (09/09/2010)(readMedia)-- A Hometown Heroes Salute will honor more than 860 D.C. Air National Guard men and women during a ceremony at the D.C. National Guard Armory on the anniversary of 9/11 at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. D.C. Councilman Phil Mendelson will be the keynote speaker for the event.

The public and the media are invited to attend. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the event, which honors the Airmen and their families for the sacrifices they have made while deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations around the world in the Global War on Terrorism.
