MONTGOMERY, AL (11/23/2010)(readMedia)-- The approximately 40 Soldiers from the Alabama National Guard's 441st Ordnance Battalion will return to Huntsville Wednesday November 24, 2010, after a deployment to Iraq. Friends, family and community members will welcome the Soldiers home at the Green Cove Armory in Huntsville, Ala., located at 2824 Green Cove Road.
The unit is expected to arrive from their demobilization station around 11:00 a.m.*
While in Iraq the unit, led by LTC Allen Price, was the command and control for
five Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Companies and two Air Force EOD Flights which served in a direct support role to the 1st Armored Division and was assigned to Combined Joint Task Force Troy.
The unit also assisted, trained and advised the Iraqi EOD security forces to defeat the improvised explosive device (IED) threat internally, in order to provide stability for the Iraqi people and the government of Iraq.
Members of the media and general public are invited to attend the brief ceremony and assist the family members in welcoming home the Soldiers of the 441st EOD.
