James Bardenett Named SUNYAC Pitcher of the Week
BROCKPORT, NY (04/24/2012)(readMedia)-- Junior James Bardenett (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) of The College at Brockport Men's Baseball team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pitcher of the Week. It is the second time Bardenett has earned the award this season and third of his career.
Bardenett went 2-0 over the week as Brockport finished the week 5-0. Bardenett posted a 0.69 earned run average in two starts for the Golden Eagles. The junior is now 8-2 on the season with a 2.63 ERA. Bardenett leads the SUNYAC in wins and innings pitched with 61.2 and is second with batters struck out with 57. In his last four starts, Bardenett has gone at least six innings and not allowed more than one earned run.
In a SUNYAC matchup against Fredonia on Tuesday, Bardenett went six innings in a nine inning contest and allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out seven Blue Devils. In his next start Bardenett tossed his first complete game of the season and earned a shutout while giving up just three singles and not issuing a walk.
The Golden Eagles have clinched a playoff berth in the SUNYAC Tournament and with one victory in this weekend's three-game series against Oneonta, Brockport will clinch the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.
