Julian Schreibman Calls on Congressman Gibson to Reject Republican Attacks on Medicare

KINGSTON, NY (03/21/2012)(readMedia)-- "Today House Republicans reintroduced their Ryan plan to end Medicare," said Congressional candidate and former federal prosecutor, Julian Schreibman. They will try again to cancel the familiar Medicare plan that those now in retirement and those approaching retirement have depended on. Congressman Chris Gibson voted for the Ryan budget last year, and Ryan 2.0 gives even more tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires, and subsidies for big oil, while killing Medicare."

The Republican budget slashes Pell grants, Medicaid, road and bridge repair, veterans programs and Social Security benefits, among others.

"Congressman Gibson, do the right thing this time, put the people of the 19th District first and reject Ryan 2.0," said Schreibman. "How can you give more tax cuts to incomes above a million dollars per year, and subsidies to profitable oil corporations, but hurt seniors and struggling families?"

Like the previous budget supported by Chris Gibson, this new proposal shows how out-of-touch Republicans like Congressmen Paul Ryan and Chris Gibson are with the real needs and concerns of our seniors, students, and everyone else Upstate. This is another example of Chris Gibson putting an extreme Washington ideology ahead of New York families.
