Katie Gildemeyer Named Offensive Player of the Week

BROCKPORT, NY (10/23/2012)(readMedia)-- Katie Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) of The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Offensive Player of the Week.

Gildemeyer earns her first SUNYAC award after scoring both goals against Plattsburgh as the Golden Eagles dropped the Cardinals 2-1 to claim the top overall seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament and clinch the team's first ever regular season SUNYAC title. The junior scored the game's first goal in the 15th minute to put Brockport up 1-0. Gildemeyer scored the game-winning goal 20 minutes later to preserve the win. The two goals were the first multi-goal game of Gildemeyer's career.

Against Potsdam on Friday afternoon, Gildemeyer provided an assist en route to a 4-0 victory for the Golden Eagles. Gildemeyer is second on the team with seven goals and 20 points on the year.

The Golden Eagles earned the first round bye and will take on the winner of No. 4 seed Cortland and No. 5 seed Buffalo State on Oct. 31. Game time is set for 1:00 pm at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
