Lauren Bohman Named Brockport Athlete of the Week
BROCKPORT, NY (10/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Lauren Bohman (Sayville, NY/Sayville) helped carry the women's tennis team to a fifth-place finish at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament. For her efforts, Bohman has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week.
Entering the tournament as the No. 2 seed from the West, Bohman and the Golden Eagles fell to Oneonta in the opening round. On Saturday, Bohman scored a victory in both singles and doubles to help Brockport take down Oswego 6-3. Bohman teamed up with Nicole DeRose (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) to take third singles 8-6. Bohman then scored a victory in fifth singles in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
Competing in the fifth-place match on Sunday against Cortland, Brockport scored a 5-4 victory thanks Bohman's victory in fifth singles. Trailing 4-3 entering Bohman's match, the sophomore dropped the first set 5-7 but rallied back to take the second set 6-4. Bohman faced match point in the tiebreaker, but scored the final three points for the 11-7 victory.
