Learning Adventure Educational Field Trips at Liberty Ridge Farm!

We grow memories!

SCHAGHTICOKE, NY (06/17/2009)(readMedia)-- Groups invited to Celebrate Discovery in the ExploreNY Corn Maze

Liberty Ridge Farm, an agricultural tourism destination and working farm, is now booking educational field trips for the 2009 fall season. Celebrating the 400th anniversary of the discovery of New York, the Liberty Ridge Farm field trip focuses on learning adventures in the ExploreNY Adventure Corn Maze and throughout the farm.

"We have expanded our learning excursions to include fun and exciting opportunities to learn about all aspects of the farming life cycle." said Cynthia Gifford, owner of Liberty Ridge Farm. The 3 hour programs are designed to align with New York State curriculum guidelines, and are offered to school field trips as well as daycare and nursery schools at special group discount rates.

The 12 acre ExploreNY Adventure Corn Maze provides an interactive learning experience, revealing the story of Henry Hudson's 1609 discovery of the Hudson River as students navigate their way through the twists and turns of the maze. The maze passport game enhances team building and problem solving skills as groups find their way through the labyrinth of paths that make up the image of Henry Hudson's ship, the Half Moon

Each Educational Field Trip includes admission to the 2009 ExploreNY Adventure Corn Maze and a full slate of expanded learning activities throughout the farm. New this year is the animatronics Miss Moo's Musical Revue - a barn full of animals singing, telling jokes and providing educational programs on farm life. Flat screen videos displaying the pollination process are found in the Bee House. And our Camp Celebration features 4 educational themed cottages:

  • Heritage Cottage celebrates the importance of farm life and its history.
  • Animal Cottage celebrates the many different animals on the farm.
  • Garden Cottage celebrates the life cycle of crops grown on the farm.
  • Orchard Cottage celebrates the many trees vital to a farm.

Liberty Ridge Farm is booking Educational Field Trips weekdays starting 9/14/08 and continuing through 10/30/08. While general admission starts at 10am, group admissions start at 9am Monday through Fridays. School group discounted admission rates are $8 per person, with teachers and staff admitted free with reservation. Shaded areas are provided for lunch, and groups are invited to bring their own lunches, or order ahead for fresh lunches from the farm kitchen.
