Local Student Hilary Knecht of Richmond Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (06/20/2013)(readMedia)-- Hilary Knecht, a member of the Class of 2013 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.

She is the daughter of Heidi Katz of Richmond, Mass.

Knecht earned a B.A. degree summa cum laude with honor in history of art at Skidmore's 102st commencement in May. In addition, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society that exists to encourage and recognize outstanding individual achievements in liberal education. She also received the S. Michael Eigen '87 Prize in Art History, named in honor of an alumnus and awarded annually to an outstanding art history major. She also was the recipient of the Arts Administration Faculty Award, awarded to a graduating senior with a minor in arts administration who has demonstrated academic excellence and shows extraordinary promise for a career in the field.

Knecht earned honors for academic work completed during the spring 2013 semester.

During her Skidmore career, Knecht was elected to the Skidmore Periclean Honors Forum, which recognizes academic achievement and promotes intellectual and creative activity as well as citizenship and civic engagement. She also received a Messa and Direnzo Family Student Opportunity Fund award for study in Italy.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
