SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (06/28/2013)(readMedia)-- Kelsey Yam, a member of the Class of 2013 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.
She is the daughter of Richard and Vanessa Yam of Longmeadow.
Yam earned a B.S. degree magna cum laude with honor at Skidmore's 102nd commencement in May.
In addition, she received the Gail Moran Morton '60 Prize, named in honor of a Skidmore graduate and presented annually to the student who has demonstrated excellence in the business major combined with a broad liberal arts program of study and who has demonstrated the humanistic concern for personal and community relationships that embodies the spirit of the liberal arts. Yam also was elected to membership in the Thoroughbred Society, for student-athletes who achieve a grade point average of at least 3.67 or higher.
She earned honors for academic work completed during the spring 2013 semester.
Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,200 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
