Local Student Tyler Orfao of Concord Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (07/08/2010)(readMedia)-- Tyler Orfao, a member of the Class of 2013 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.

He is the son of David and Marybeth Orfao of Concord.

Orfao was one of two students selected to receive the Candace Carlucci Backus '66 First-Year Experience Prize. The award honors a former director of alumni affairs at Skidmore and is presented annually to students who submit exceptional scholarly or artistic work from their Scribner Seminar, a course required of all first-year students.

In addition, Orfao received high honors for academic work completed during the spring semester at the college.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
