ALBANY, NY (05/05/2021) (readMedia)-- Wayne Spence will remain PEF president for his third three-year term beginning this August.
The Members' Voice slate was certified for all statewide offices (president, secretary-treasurer, three vice-presidents and three trustees). No opposition candidates were certified by the PEF Elections Committee following its review of nominating petitions, so no balloting is necessary for those offices.
Joining Spence on the leadership team will be: Secretary-Treasurer Joe Donahue, Vice Presidents Randi DiAntonio, Sharon DeSilva and Darlene Williams, and Trustees Christopher Buman, Bruce Giddings and Muriel Hardy-Lee. Incumbent Secretary-Treasurer Kay Alison Wilkie is retiring and incumbent trustees Jeanette Santos and Maddie Shannon-Roberts did not seek re-election.
"We are humbled by this show of unity from PEF members at this difficult time in the union's history," said Spence. "COVID-19 has challenged all of us and time and again PEF members rose to meet those challenges. This leadership team will continue to press forward on all fronts. We are determined to deliver the fair and just contract members deserve and we will never stop fighting to protect members' health and safety in the workplace. It is a privilege to lead this team and represent the public heroes of PEF."
Regional coordinator and Executive Board petitions were also certified. Any unfilled regional coordinator or Executive Board seats will be filled at the next quarterly special election. Information regarding that process will be released shortly.
