Mike Tammaro Named SUNYAC Player of the Week

Senior records career-high six assists against Medialle

BROCKPORT, NY (03/29/2011)(readMedia)-- Senior Midfielder Mike Tammaro (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending March 27. Tammaro earned the honor after scoring a goal and collecting a career-high six assists in Brockport's 16-9 win over Medaille on March 22.

Tammaro had never recorded more than two assists in a game prior to the win against Medaille, and had a hand in five consecutive goals to help Brockport build a 7-5 lead. During that stretch, Tammaro scored once and assisted a score four times. Tammaro helped Brockport to their second straight win in the fourth quarter by collecting two additional assists to seal the victory.

Tammaro has become one of the primary scoring threats for the Golden Eagles. Playing in five of the team's six games this season and starting three times, Tammaro is tied for the second-highest point total on the team with 12 points so far this season, collecting three goals and nine assists. Tammaro is currently on a five-game point streak, and hopes to continue that streak on Wednesday against Cazenovia.
