Minnesota State Fair Celebrates New AgStar Arena with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
What: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Grand Opening of the Minnesota State Fair's new AgStar Arena. Immediately following the ceremony, the Minnesota Horse Expo will host Stallion Presentations, the arena's first event.
When: Friday, April 27 at 8 a.m.
Where: AgStar Arena at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds – located on Judson Avenue next to the Horse Barn
Parking: Enter the southwest end of the fairgrounds from Canfield Street (Gate 14) off Como Avenue. Park in the midway lot. Walk south to Judson Avenue and check in at the ticket booth. Proceed to AgStar Arena.
Who: Expected to speak at the ceremony are Dave Frederickson, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture; Jerry Hammer, Executive Vice President of the Minnesota State Fair; and Paul DeBriyn, President and CEO of AgStar Financial Services.
Why: To celebrate the opening of AgStar Arena and the 200 individuals, organizations, associations and corporations that contributed to this project.
What else: This new 27,000 square foot equine and livestock facility, built on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, replaces the 1960s Judging Arena and Horse Annex. AgStar Arena will be used during the State Fair by 4-H, FFA and State Fair open class exhibitors, complementing activities at the Lee and Rose Warner Coliseum and the Horse and Cattle Barns. It is available for extended seasonal use for equine and livestock shows. The facility features exhibitor amenities, improved guest and exhibitor access, and a 600-seat spectator area.
