NY Educational Field Trips and "Spring into Agricultural Day" at Liberty Ridge Farm Bring Learning to Life

SCHAGHTICOKE, NY (05/04/2011)(readMedia)-- Liberty Ridge Farm is happy to announce a continued collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer and Saratoga Counties with a new "Spring into Agricultural Day" on the farm educational program on June 7th. The program is open to 1st - 4th grade classrooms including homeschoolers in Rensselaer and Saratoga Counties. Education Stations will be set up on topics such as; honey bees, dairy, shearing, berries and planting. Projects are designed to fit within the NYS learning standards for 1st to 4th grade students.

"We have been working with the Cornell Cooperative Extension for the past 10 years hosting a special one day fall field trip. This year we are providing an educational field trip in the spring for the first time. Together we created a program that will provide a hands-on experience to students to learn what springtime is like on the farm." said Cynthia Gifford, Owner of Liberty Ridge Farm. Students will take an interpretive walk down a farm footpath will take the student through the areas of the farm which will illustrate the many environmental and life cycle the changes that occur annually. Liberty Ridge Farm Field trips focus on core educational value with an emphasis on activities that can educate and exercise the mind and the body.
