New York's Largest Grocery Union Reaches Tentative Agreement with King Kullen Supermarkets

QUEENS VILLAGE, NY (12/19/2013)(readMedia)-- New York State's largest grocery workers union, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1500, announced they have reached a tentative agreement with King Kullen Supermarket.

The union negotiating committee's announcement comes after three-months of negotiations. The previous collective bargaining agreement expired on Sept. 28th and was extended four-times, the latest extension was set to expire on December 21, 2013. The tentative agreement for over 2,000 King Kullen workers will be voted on Monday, December 23, 2013.

Lead Negotiator and President of UFCW Local 1500, Bruce Both said: "The only way we could have reached this tentative agreement was through the solidarity, patience and dedication of the King Kullen members. I urge all King Kullen members to come out Monday, review the contract thoroughly, then vote for their best interests."

Earlier in the day, UFCW Local 1500 had also announced they had reached a tentative agreement with Stop & Shop, an agreement covering over 6,000 grocery workers throughout New York.

United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500, based out of Westbury, New York, represents over 22,000 grocery workers in New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties.
