La Salle's Julie Valenti presents Clara Menton with the award for top student in the Fine Arts Department

PHILADELPHIA, PA (06/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Clara Menton of Newark was named the top graduate in the Fine Arts Department at La Salle University. An Honors student, Clara has been active in both academic and social programs, such as Circle K and the La Salle Step Team, since she arrived here as a freshman.

Clara spent a semester abroad in Italy, where she solidified her interest in the museum and gallery world. She has since obtained an internship under the curator of education at the La Salle University Art Museum and has been selected for the prestigious and nationally competitive Philadelphia Museum of Art Internship program this summer. Clara has worked on two senior projects-the art history research seminar, and a study of "public art" that spanned from cave paintings to contemporary murals in Philadelphia and her Honors Project, in which she wrote a play based on the complete works of Jane Austen.
