Monday Noon Programs - Books Sandwiched In

SCHENECTADY, NY (12/23/2015)(readMedia)-- The Friends of Schenectady County Public Library will offer their winter series of Books Sandwiched In programs at the Central library, 99 Clinton Street in Schenectady beginning January 4 with H is for Hawk, by Helen Macdonald, reviewed by Patricia Rush, past president of ECOS: The Environmental Clearinghouse, retired teacher, fund-raiser and non-profit administrator. NOTE: Bob Yunick will lead a special pre-BSI program at 11 a.m. in the McChesney Room on hawks, especially the northern goshawk, the species of hawk which is the subject of Macdonald's book.

On January 11 Mark Blanchfield, Schenectady City Court Judge will review Sisters In Law: How Sandra Day O'Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsberg Went to the Supreme Court and Changed the World, by Linda Hirshman.

On January 25 – Station Eleven, by Emily St. John Mandel, will be reviewed by Tom Della Sala, retired English teacher and English coordinator for the Schenectady City Schools, past member of the Schenectady City Council, and current member of the Board of the Schenectady Light Opera Company.

The programs are held in the McChesney Room, beginning at 12:00 pm. All are open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch; beverages are available for a nominal fee.
