Nicole Jones Named Athlete of the Week at Brockport
Sophomore breaks the school record in the shot put
BROCKPORT, NY (05/03/2011)(readMedia)-- Sophomore Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) broke the school record and qualified provisionally for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the shot put Saturday afternoon and is Brockport's Female Athlete of the Week.
Jones' winning heave of 12.81 meters (42 feet, one half inch) was six inches past the previous school record set in 1992 by Carrie Gorton. In addition to the shot put victory and record, Jones was second in the discus and fifth in the hammer throw for the Golden Eagles.
