Nicole Jones Named Most Outstanding Field Athlete
Jones has also been selected as First-Team All-Conference
BROCKPORT, NY (02/28/2012)(readMedia)-- Junior Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) has been named the Outstanding Female Field Athlete of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships. Jones has also been named to the All-SUNYAC First-Team.
At the SUNYAC Championships this past weekend at Hobart College, Jones won the shot put event at the meet for the second consecutive year. Jones set the Brockport school record and personal-best mark with a distance of 12.69 meters. Jones cleared 12 meters on five of her six throws. The junior also put up a personal best in the weight throw event with a distance of 15.44 meters to put her in second place at the meet. Both throws were ECAC-qualifying marks.
This is Jones' second consecutive appearance on the All-SUNYAC First-Team. To be a member of the First-Team, athletes must win their respective event at the SUNYAC Championships. Second-place finishers in the event are represented on the Second-Team.
