Nominations requested for Women of Excellence from Beaver Falls

The second annual awards will be presented on Sat., March 29.

BEAVER FALLS, PA (01/15/2014)(readMedia)-- Geneva College is currently seeking nominees for the second annual Women of Excellence Awards to be presented during a brunch on Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m. The event is being hosted to celebrate women from the City of Beaver Falls, both young and old, who have blessed the community with service, leadership and strength.

Geneva invites members of the Beaver Falls community to nominate a female friend or family member who deserves this honor. Nominees must be female, at least 14 years old and have been a resident of the City of Beaver Falls for a minimum of three years.

Submissions must be received no later than Friday, February 6, 2014. Nominations may be made online at www.geneva.edu/womenofexcellence.

"We hope that this program is a campus-community bridge builder," says Kathy Kinzer-Downs, Director of Multicultural Student Services. "March is Women's History Month, so we hope to recognize and celebrate the women of Beaver Falls for their service and work in the community."

The 2014 Women of Excellence Awards committee includes Kinzer-Downs; Cheryl Johnston, Director of Marketing Services & PR at Geneva; Regina Jones; and Rebecca Salopek, one of last year's honorees.

Salopek was honored for her work as The CARE Outreach Coordinator of the Christian Assembly, and Service Coordinator with the Beaver County Housing Authority. The other 2013 Women of Excellence recipients were Vanessa Ford Taylor, a domestic violence survivor and founder of The Vanessa Ford Scholarship, and Bethany Warren, co-owner of Beaver Falls Coffee & Tea.

In addition, the Teen Woman of Excellence was awarded to Sierra Murray and Jean Boak received the Senior Woman of Excellence.
