Northeast Ohioans Honored For Volunteer Excellence By National American Lung Association

INDEPENDENCE OH (06/30/2017) (readMedia)-- Two northeast Ohio volunteers have received national Volunteer Excellence Awards from the American Lung Association for their outstanding efforts in the fight against lung disease and for lung health.

Rick Trivisonno, Vice-President of Supply Chain & Community Affairs for The Lincoln Electric Company, started volunteering with the American Lung Association in 1992 when he joined the American Lung Association in Ohio's Celebrity Golf Tournament Committee. Today, he chairs that committee, recruiting committee members and celebrities; soliciting sponsorships and participants; and working with staff on the set-up and organization of the event.

2017 marked the 25th year of the tournament and it is estimated that the event has brought in close to $5 million since its debut.

In addition, Rick is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association of the Midland States and has added his expertise as a CPA to the Board's Finance Committee. The Midland States consists of Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, and Tennessee.

Although the awards were officially announced and presented June 23 in Chicago, Rick received his award on June 5 at this year's golf tournament at Barrington Golf Club in Aurora as he was unable to attend the national meeting.

Amy Chuang M.D., Oberlin, has been active with the American Lung Association since the mid-1990's when she joined the local association's advisory board.

Since that time, she has served in various national, regional, and local leadership positions for the American Lung Association, including on the Midland States Board of Directors. She is also active in various special events for the association.

Dr. Chuang has a special interest in asthma and, especially, how the American Lung Association positions itself to work through cultural understanding, language and literacy barriers in order to serve all communities to address lung health issues.

An allergist with the Cleveland Clinic, she has been actively involved in education and advocacy issue relating to asthma, lung cancer and the environment.
