PEF Brings Holiday Cheer to Families of Deserving Parolees

A 25-Year Tradition

ALBANY, NY (12/10/2015)(readMedia)-- Members of the New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF), who are parole officers at the state Department of Correction and Community Supervision, will wrap donated gifts for families of deserving parolees at PEF headquarters in Latham on Saturday, December 12 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

This year, a parolee will be at the event with her three children, a 9-year old daughter, 2-year old son and 4-month old infant. The mother will be available for media interviews. The parolee works as a chamber maid at a local motel chain, and is trying to turn her life around, but is struggling financially. She will arrive with her children at 12 noon to receive their gifts.

The gift wrapping event was organized 25 years ago, and has become a holiday tradition for state parole officers, who have been joined by representatives from the Albany County Public Defenders Office, and area law firms such as Kindlon Shanks and Associates, and the Cheryl Coleman Law Office.
