NEW YORK (09/01/2026) (readMedia)-- New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) President Wayne Spence will lead a rally outside the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) to spotlight the agency's unfair treatment of its employees and its disrespect for union rights.

The rally is in response to multiple reports from employees and union representatives alleging bullying tactics, intimidation and retaliation at DFS. The union demands immediate and meaningful change, which must include protection against retaliation and accountability from DFS leadership.

WHO:

PEF President Wayne Spence, additional PEF elected officers, DFS employees who are PEF members, and assorted labor leaders.  
WHAT:

Public outdoor rally demanding workplace accountability and respect for union rights at the NYS Department of Financial Services.

NOTES:

PEF is seeking permission to display a 20-foot inflatable bull named S.T.O.M.P. (Stop Treating Our Members Poorly), ala organized labor's famous "Scabby the Rat," on the street outside the DFS building. 

President Spence will be available for 1:1 interviews before and after the rally. 

TV crews should bring their own microphones. We will have a podium where they can be clamped, but not a multbox.
